Hijack
Apple TV’s latest thriller series stars Idris Elba as a negotiator caught up in a hijacking aboard a flight from Dubai to London. Filming took place during 2022 in a number of locations in London and south east England.
Stansted Airport and Westfield Shopping Centre doubled for Dubai International Airport. Other locations included The QE II centre, The Foreign Office, Millbrook Test Track and Kington University.
Billions
When the Covid-19 pandemic of 2020 curtailed the shoot for Billions Season 5 in New York, the Showtime producers decided to bring their production to the UK to complete the missing scenes. We used various locations around London to double for New York, including New street square and The Ned. We were also privileged to be allowed to film a very private estate near Winchester, which became Bobby Axelrods' upstate New York mansion.
Master Of None
Acclaimed US director and comedian, Aziz Ansari, decided he wanted to shoot the entire season 3 of Master of None in the UK, which saw us double London for Brooklyn and parts of Surrey for upstate New York. Production was halted in March 2020 due to the pandemic, but restarted in August 2020 and we worked through the next 2 lockdowns, finally wrapping production in January 2021.
His Dark Materials
Season 2 of the acclaimed BBC Show saw us both location managing and producing the VFX plate shoot in The Faroe Islands and on the Hawaiian island of Kauai. The shoot called for the most dramatic landscapes to create the fantasy world the Lyra inhabits. A number of tropical destinations were considered until the dramatic island of Kauai was chosen to host both an aerial and ground shoot.
The Rook
Myfanwy Thomas (played by Emma Greenwell) finds herself at The Millenium Bridge surrounded by dead bodies with no memory of how she came to be there. She soon discovers that she is an agent with supernatural abilities in a British secret service called the Checquy. Filming for the Starz show, The Rook took place in 2018 at Greenwich Naval College, Windsor Great Park, St. Helen’s Place and a £20million house on the Wentworth Estate
Game of Thrones Season 4
We were very excited to return to the 4th season of Game of Thrones. The stunning Dalmatian coast in Croatia became our home for 7 months during 2013. Dubrovnik stood in for Kings Landing, a local park was lavishly decorated for Joffrey’s wedding scene, whilst the grounds of an abandoned hotel was turned into the amphitheatre. Diocletian’s Palace and Kris Fortress in Split became the location for the slave city of Meereen.
Game of Thrones Season 3
Filming for Game of Thrones Season 3 took place in Morocco in 2012. The Medina of Essaouira stood in for the streets of Kings Landing, while the Skala Fortress was the location where Daenerys Targaryen buys her slave army. Production moved to Ouarzazate in late September to film The Kingdom of Heaven set. A rainstorm almost washed away our set, which we predicted might happen, in advance of the crew arriving, we built a dam along the riverbed which, when the torrential flood arrived, kept the crew and equipment dry and safe.
